In the Leiser Berge Nature Park, open spaces, wooded areas and sunny slopes merge seamlessly into one another. The landscape that emerges here is reminiscent of a savannah, where a wide variety of habitats alternate on a small scale – and it is precisely this that accounts for the exceptional diversity of plant life.
Specialised species, adapted to heat and poor soils, thrive in dry, nutrient-poor locations. In between grow shrubs and scattered trees, which, together with the open spaces, form a diverse mosaic. This structure creates ideal conditions for an extraordinary flora.
The landscape changes constantly throughout the year: early in the year, the first flowers add splashes of colour, whilst in summer grasses and herbs dominate the landscape. Those who look closely will discover a multitude of plants along the paths – some striking and familiar, others rare and well hidden.
