Black pasque flower

Pulsatilla pratensis subsp. nigricans

The black pasque flower is a lesser-known relative of the more familiar pasque flower. With its dark, often violet-brown flowers, it has a more understated appearance – which is precisely why it is such a special find in the Leiser Berge Nature Park.

It grows in dry, sunny spots and is one of those plants closely associated with the traditional cultural landscape. If you look closely, you can spot it in spring amongst grasses and low vegetation.
